The Albert Memorial

Over the years, it's been sneered at, laughed at, and shrigged off. Admittedly, it's a bit precious and, frankly, over the top.
But just compare it to the massive temples Americans erect for the "men of the people" nation-cult, and you might feel a bit better.
After all, no one thought of carving his face into a mountain. It takes a republic to be that hubristic.
