Both the TV antennas on the houses and the tunnel entrance are a bit jarring.

I don't think I would. I grew up a block away from a railroad.
I grew up a few short blocks from a RR. I would and I did.
The difference is that, before 1967 or whenever it was, a British penny was a lot bigger than an American penny to begin with.
Sadly I have to confess I am old enough to have put old pennies and the new horrid little pennies on the track
